Comb a volumizing mouse into your hair (I like paul mitchell best). Blow drying in the direction of your hair will make it less frizzy. Once your hair is mostly dry flip your hair upside down and finish blow drying and spray with medium hold hairspray (this will give it volume). Flip your hair back over and arrange it w/ your fingers.
why dont you try straightening it? or get a hair relaxer they work great. If you use a straightener it works wonders

Welll, usually if you use a volumizing shampoo along with the volumizing products it also comes with, your hair will become thicker and smooth. Blow drying your hair at the roots while you pull your hair up with a brush adds volume.

As far as keeping your hair from being frizzy, try BioSilk...either the aerosol or liquid. They are both WONDERFUL!! I have naturally wavy hair, and when I blow it straight, I always use biosilk and use a Chi straighting iron to smooth it out!

I think that you should go to a GOOD hairdresser whom you 'trust totally' with your hair, and let him/her help you decide what to do to 'fix' your hair. You may have to use 'false extensions' for you wedding, and I think that you'll also want something that you can 'leave in' and not have to 'do a lot with your hair every day' while you are on your honeymoon ... but the BEST that you can do now that you have done so much 'damage' is go to a good hairdresser and hope that the hairdresser can give you a 'good, workable' FIX.

It just depends on teh ayers she gets, when you cut layers in yoru hair its does make it thinner because not al of your hair is the same length, she just needs to finad a hairdresser that can advise her on what layers will be best for her

The worst possible thing she could do is get layers, layers will only make her hair look thinner. A good option is to use a volumizing shampoo and no conditioner. There are some great gels like Clean Lift by Redken that work great. You should only use a small amount on towel dried hair, add about a dime size to your palms and rub your hands together and then rub int the roots of the hair only. blow dry upside down using your hands only until the hair is almost completely dry then style with a brush.

I want to be able to have lots of volume at the top of my hair and i dont want to tease it. My hair tangles so easy and has been dyed well over 20 times, therefore is very fragile. I can fall asleep with it wet and have maybe one wave. through it (cause i pull it in a pony tail while I sleep) I dont want to braid it or anything because I only want it large and volumized up top. I'm getting layers in soon, but that will only help a bit. Help?
1. Use root volumizers: These are products designed to lift hair at the scalp. They come in gel, mousse and spray versions, and you place the product directly at the roots of towel-dried hair, lifting hair with your fingers as you apply.
2. Hot/cold blow-dry your hair at the roots: Blow-drying will give you a good lift if used with a fairly large, round brush. The trick is to situate the brush as close to your scalp as you can, essentially pulling the hair straight up from the base of your head, and using bursts of heat from the blow-dryer, aimed at the brush, followed by cool air which "sets" the style.
3. Set with Velcro rollers: A few strategically placed Velcro rollers will give your hair terrific volume. After hair is washed and blow-dried, curve one-inch sections of the hair you want lifted around the roller (small rollers for a slight lift and large for a higher lift). Three or four rollers should do the trick. Leave rollers in for about five minutes, remove and arrange newly lifted hair with your fingers. It's recommended you don't brush at this point, as brushing could "deflate" the set.
4. Use a curling iron... the right way: Because of the intense heat generated, a curling iron will give an instant lift. Starting at the crown of the head, take hold of one-inch sections of hair and lift vertically, wrapping hair around the iron, as close to your scalp as you can. Then spray with a holding product.
5. Aside from the fact that hair usually has more body when it's colored, sometimes "lift," or hair volume, is more of an impression, and that's where what's known as dimensional hair color comes in. When hair is monochromatic, it appears flatter.
I've used every single one of these techniques and all of them are great! I have fine hair but LOTS of it and have also been dying my hair forever. My hair also has a natural wave to it. The one that's the least stressful on my hair is using hot rollers. I mist my hair with a teeeny tiiiny bit of heat protector like ThermaSilk to make sure I don't do anymore damage to it. It's still in pretty good shape!!

Mousse will help with volume, as will drying it upside down. As for hairsprays, so many of them feel tacky and weigh your hair down. I've used spritzes with success as they are lighter in feel than hairsprays.
With fragile hair, don't ever use rubber bands. They tend to break it badly. Also, when you pull your hair back to sleep, it can cause it to snap and break, too, so make sure you use ties that protect (are coated for gentleness) and make sure they are not too tight.

If you mean flying as in static electricity, try putting canned hairspray on a brush and brushing through your hair with it. That should prevent it from flying. It should be light, though, as you don't want to weight fine hair down.

Lol, gel is a option, but thats way over the limit if you have long hair.... Uhh i wouldnt try this either, but dont wash your hair. It will get oily and will start getting weighed down. Im guessing that there are some hair products that will help.. A hair solon person could probably help you better
A shine serum or glosser would help keep the fly-aways down. It's much lighter than a gel. A drop is all you need or your hair will look greasy, especially if it's fine.

A dermatologist or a skin specialist can prescribe you for your hairloss. And also please get your hormones levels checked, we women have male and female hormones in our body and if your hormones are producing too much of the male hormone, it can result to hairloss. Supplements, proteins will not help. You will have to get to the root of the problem by using internal medicine. Some dermatologists can give you cortisone shots in the area you are losing hair which is increase hairgrowth in that area. That therapy can be expensive but it is a most practical solution.

you can try the shampoo and conditioner from erbal essences i believe it says on the bottle anti-frizz or somethin like dat. you have to read the labels. follow the instructions. oh and remember to leave the conditioner in ur hair for at least a min and it whould work really well. DONT BLOW DRY YOUR HAIR.

Rub a small amount of mousse into your damp hair and add a little extra at the crown. Blow dry your hair upside down until it is almost dry and then flip over and use a round brush to style it and finish blow drying it. Finally, run over the ends with a large barrel curling iron to make your hair sleek. When you are finished, rub a dime sized amount of serum in your palms and run it through your hair, concentrating at the ends...

Ooo I use to have this problem really bad. My hair was extremely thin and it's naturally color but so unbelievably damaged from coloring and heat and the sun and chlorine. Phew my hair was a mess. So I didn't use any general shampoos and or conditioners. I used what was meant for my hair. I first got a hair treatment to kind of clean up it's damage. and then for about a month i used Biolage Fortifying Shampoo and Conditioner which REALLY restored my hair. I still use the fortifying shampoo but I changed my conditioner to Healthy Hair by "Big Sexy Hair" and it's been working really good. My hair never has frizzys and it feels a lot thicker. But I also released myself from straight ironing and heat curling and blow drying for a while. I limited that to about once a month. I can also suggest that when you shower before you rinse out your conditioner and shampoo with scalding hot water, turn the knob to freezing. It will lock in the hair cuticles and calm the frizzys. And if you need to blow dry, do it on the cold setting, otherwise just air dry. In all honesty though, the more shampoos and conditioners you experiment with the more you can tell the difference of what each one does for your hair and you'll find one that works WONDERS for you.
I'm only twenty years old and my hair thinning. I think this happened when I lost a large amount of weight a few years back from doing an extended crash diet. What can I do? I am pretty sure that it costs a lot to get hair implants. Try going to the doctor and seeing if they can prescribe anything that could help you. I've also seen ads for rogaine and that might help somewhat. Really I think the only solution is to get hair implants but that may cost quite a lot so until you can get the funds I would suggest that you buy a lot of really cute hats.

Your best bet is to seek out a dermotologist. I had to when mine was thinning due to medicaitons that caused problems during my hair's rest cycle. They can identify the reason as well as tell you what to do to stall that or stop it if it can be stopped. I had to shock my hair by cutting it all off. It was way down my back past the middle of my bottom and I had to cut it short above the collar bone. It was either that or possible lose it all but they were right on the money with the diagnosis becasue within a week, it stopped falling out. Now after 5 years of keeping it short, I'm finally growing it back out.

When I was in my 20's and on the pill, my hair started falling out more than normal, and it really depressed me. Life moves on and changes, though, and after awhile I quit taking the pill and the problem stopped.

Take Vitamin E and unflavored gelatin. Always use conditioner and once or twice a month rub a lot of REAL mayonnaise into your hair and wrap with Saran wrap and heat with dryer or just leave wrapped for about 30 minutes. It will take two or more shampoos to get it all out. If you blow dry your hair turn your head down and blow dry from beneath.

If this is genetic then you probably cant do too much to change it. I recommend taking 4000 mg of biotin daily along with 1 vitamin e tablet and a multivitamin. This will help your body get all the nutrients it needs and help your hair from the inside out. You can also invest in a good volumizing shampoo. Allow hair to air dry and try not to apply too much heat. Within a year you should have noticeably healthier hair.

Get a product called "Hair Toys" i think it's by studio Fix, not 100% sure. But it'll gloss your hair and belive me, it'll totally help. Also, look into using Redkin for hair treatment, expensive but totally worth it!!!! and use a ceramic straightener, like Connair.
Deep condition it once a week or so - or use a light leave-in conditioner. Also, get some sort of heat therapy serum for your strands. That'll help protect your hair.

well...my advice would be to stop straightening it...for a little while. Or try getting a special shampoo that will help your hair heal from the burning.
Go to your local store and buy a heat protector for your hair...i always straighten my hair every single day weather its rain or shine....lol....this protector really works and you have nice healthy SRATIGHT hair!
Don't straighten as often, and when you do, use a heat-protectant creme or spray, (L'Oreal Studioline Hot Straight Straightening Creme $3, Mane 'N Tail Barrier spray $5, Kiehls Heat Protective Straightening Balm $15) and use a mosturizing shampoo. Also, keep your straightener on a low hear setting.
I also have to flat iron my hair every day as well. For a very long time I went through the dry hair breaking off stage. Really all you need to do is to get a great deep conditioner to use on your hair to keep it moisturized. If you have a Sally Beauty Supply store near you try the Ion Products they have a conditioning packet that you can buy for .99 and its the same thing that they used at the salon I worked at for the deep condtioning treatments and charged 29.99 to do. You can do it at home with a hair dryer or warm towel to activate. Also try investing in a product like Redkin Spray Starch when you straighten your hair it will protect it and keep it smooth and straight all day.. Good Luck..

I suggest conditioning your hair daily but shampooing only every other day. Shampoo wears out hair and causes it to get frizzy. I also suggest replacing the good ol' wrap your hair in a towel method with scrunching it with paper towels. It sounds crazy but It prevent flyaways and ringleys. As for split ends, rub a tiny day of olive oil on them daily or cover a comb with olive oil and comb it through the split ends. Also, use a shampoo your stylist reccomends for your hair.

Don't worry I have suffered from the same problem.Cheap straighteners like conair and all walmart brands will burn you hair and cause dead ends no matter what.I have tried every straightener from walmart and they all seem to do the same thing.I recommend either a chi or a ISO these are both fairly expensive straighteners but once you have bought-en all the cheap ones and see that they all do the same thing then you break about even.But as for the stuff to keep your ends from breaking I use sleek look by matrix.The hot Iron smoother has worked wonders for me and all my friends who I have talked in to trying it.And the funny thing about this stuff is that it is so simple to use.Your spray a thin layer onto your hair and then do it to it. If you mean flying as in static electricity, try putting canned hairspray on a brush and brushing through your hair with it. That should prevent it from flying. It should be light, though, as you don't want to weight fine hair down.

A shine serum or glosser would help keep the fly-aways down. It's much lighter than a gel. A drop is all you need or your hair will look greasy, especially if it's fine.

Any reputable brand of volumising shampoo and then dry your hair upside down and then style the way you want.

Gel and hair spray should help you. Just use the ones that contain no alcohol unless they will make your hair fall out.

I DO blow dry it upside down though and use curling products even though my hair is straight.
I also use a build up removal shampoo.. over conditioning makes my hair REALLY flat.
If in doubt.. dont brush your hair for a few weeks.. and buy dreading wax.... you'll have messy volume in no time!

if you are then yeah your hair does get thick again, i'm thinking about after a year or two it'll slowly come back to your normal hair texture. but i think it depends on how well the person does it to your hair.
if you are talking about getting it thinned out like having the person who usually cuts your hair, then i'm pretty sure it'll get thick again once it grows back in.

I used to get mine thinned out, they are actually just cutting extra off in different layers and not cutting it down to the roots so it will grow back, it just takes longer to get back to where it was. Probably in another 6 months or so you'll need it thinned again. I'm 57 now so it thins itself, lol.
When they thin your hair, they basically just cut shorter layers into your hair. You can't see that your hair has been thinned, unless they thin it way too much, but you can feel the difference. It's not going to be permanent, you'll need to get it done everytime you get your hair cut if you want to keep it that way. I do it on most of the men's hair that I cut. Especially during the summer, it helps keep you from getting so hot. But if your hair is really thick, it would be great for you. Just make sure the person who cuts your hair knows what they are doing!
omg no! you should be very thankful that you have thick hair because when you reach menopause your hair will start to thin out on the count of hormone replacement. i have very thick long natural curly hair....... so my hair is really thick on the count of my natural curls.

My best advice is to scrunch mousse into it (I like Garnier Fructis for curly hair), then let it air dry for at least 20 minutes. Then blow dry with a diffuser, turning your head upside down and sideways. Then scrunch it and shape it with your fingers and spray with a little Pantene hair spray.
Mousse + air drying makes all the difference for frizz control and nice curl definition.

if you want your hair straight, you need to buy a straightener.
I recommend Remington [ i think] wet-to-straight.
the only thing about this straightener is that if you use it too many times your hair will get damaged, and thats not what you want if you have thin hair.
To make your curls look beautiful and long, you need to take care of your hair first. if you have split ends, go to the hair cuttery and they will cut a small length off of your hair.
When you take a shower,
you can use either 2 types of shampoo/c:
-For Dry/Frizzy hair
-For Curls/Waves [ i use this one]
Right when your done taking your shower, try doing your hair immediately so it won't dry and lose it's moisture.
First: Get all of the knots out of your hair using a hairpick [your hairbrush can sometimes leave you split ends].
Second:Flip your hair upside down and put somthing that will hold your curls, like mousse or hair gel.
Third:Scrunch your hair untill mousse/gel is spread evenly.
Fourth: While your hair is still flipped, Blowdry it on Low while scrunching it with your hands.
* You and add mousse after blowdrying if it isn't holding that well.

I have the same thing...it started when I lost a lot of weight on a low carb diet and the hair never came back. I also have hormone issues and tons of stress. I use Nioxin hair shampoo and conditioner, and once and a while really coat my scalp with the conditioner to deep condition it. I try to avoid the blow dryer and straightener...I only use it on special occasions.

long layers is always the best bet. have your stylist cut the layers at the most flattering for your face...and you can do just about anything with that length! and if you feel like your hair is too thin just add mouse for volume and blow it out!

Try Nioxin products. My fiancee uses it, and her hair has gotten A LOT thicker. She had thinning hair from a hormone imbalance, and using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner has made it look thicker, and has also made some of it grow back.

I have very thick hair...and what I have found is...the layering or razor cutting...texturizing...and having the stylist use thinning shears as well. Just ask your stylist what she recommends. Layers really help though.

To thin out your hair get your hair cut with texturizing scissors. These scissors are scissors with a full blade on one end and the other end resembles a comb. If not, get it bladed by your hair stylist. DONT get it cut choppy it just looks gross. If not, you can try putting a section of your hair behind your ear and it can thin it out kind of but you'll need shorter layers to help it not look so put back. Short hair isnt good either so think of getting extensions. If you have no time to get it cut by your hair stylist, take the risk on cutting it yourself. Use regular scissors or haircutting scissors (if you have any) and cut your hair upward meaning that you take the scissors, point them upward, and start cutting. Also, you can grab sections of hair and hold them up and moving the scissors up and down lightly and start opening and closing the scissors which cuts the hair barely NOT fully. Usually when thinning out your hair, it looks better w/ a scene cut. Getting a scene cut means shorter layers on top and longer layers on bottom. It really helps thinning out your hair, thats how mine is and i cut my own hair. If you want, when going to a salon ask if they know either vidal sassoon or tony%26amp;guy cuts. I graduated @ both cosmetology schools and theyre really nice cuts that are unique. Honestly, i love hair cuts that look like a firecracker exploded in them :)

People with very fine hair should not grow hair too long or it will end up looking stringy. I suggest medium length hair with longer layers and maybe some blunt bangs if you want a change however bangs may take some work with a hair dryer and curling iron to get a side swept look. Ask a stylist for suggestions about coloring fine hair to give the illusion of more volume. I have read that dying the bottom underlying portion of your hair darker and the top brighter makes your hair look thicker.

well i have a really good flat iron and it's really hot. like above 400 degrees i think. it's an FHI (not chi) and it's professional. i think its too hot bc i have thin hair. i already know it does more damage..but it seems like my hair curls easier when i use it instead of a conair one that you could buy at a drug store. i think it's under 300 degrees. yea so what i mean is that my hair starts to curl easier when it's foggy. could it be that my flat iron is too hot? or am i just imagining things?
yes if your hair straightener is too hot it will frizz and curl your hair, if you have fine hair your want to stay around 350 degrees, if it is foggy outside or humid and your hair has natural curl then it will curl when you go outside, if yourwant your hair to stay straight then use a straightening cream and a cooler straightener, if you want it to be wavy/curly then after you take a shower twiat it up into a bun and let it dry like that and then when you take it out it will look like very natural beachy waves
Yea, I think the higher the temperature, the more damage it does to your hair. That is maybe why your hair has become frizzy throughout the day.

Definitely, the higher the temperature, the more damage to your hair. It's even more damaging on fine and thin hair, also on blonde hair because it has either no or very little cuticle layer. Try turning the temperature down before you use it and always use a protective spray or cream before any heat styling, including blow drying.

The tips of my hair are always so tangled, what can I do? I always shampoo a little and condition a lot every 2 days. I have long, thin hair, which is fine until about 4 inches from the bottom and its all frizzy mess. I want to be able to wear my hair down! I can comb it ok and then 10mins after its frizzy again. It always parts into strands, I'd like to to flow as smooth and flowing if that makes any sense. Any suggestions?
Use a moisterizing conditioner. Try to leave it in for about 3-5 minutes before rinsing it out. WHen you get out of the shower put a "Leave-in conditioner" in your hair, this will help with the frizzies and it will detangle it.
Try to stay away from the walmart brand shampoos and conditions.

I use it now and I also had a neighbor whos hair got all tangled and matted and I put in the infusium leave in conditioner and it combed right out, its great to use to for tangles and damage it leaves your hair soft also and has not smell to it. When you're in the shower, use a conditionner/treatment that you can leave in for about 10 minutes. I can recommend Terax. It's phenomenal, expensive, but since you only use it about twice a week, itll last a while.
when you get out of the shower, use a Leave in conditionner, usually comes in a spray bottle, i recommend senscience or biosilk.
I use SunSilk "Straighten Up" creme. You put a dime size amount in your hand and rub equal amounts through your hair. The good thing about this stuff is that you can put it in your hair when it's wet OR dry! You can let your hair dry on its own and get waves, or you can keep brushing it out until it's dry for straighter hair. Either style, it smoothes your hair out, "de-frizzifies" it and you have a LOT less tangles. It's great, and I love it.
You can usually find them at Wal*Mart stores and ones similar to that at about 3 bucks for 7 oz. Look for the purple bottle. :]

Well, if shampoos and conditioners haven't worked than one of your only options is to spend a decent amount of money. You can go to a salon and get extensions. That can be very expensive though so, if you're looking for something cheaper, visit a beauty supply shop and try clip in extension pieces. They're expensive, but not as expensive as as going to a salon. Plus, they last longer. Have you tried Herbal Essences volumizing shampoo and conditioner? It worked great for me. A volumizing mousse wouldn't hurt either.
i jsut bought bed head cocky it's a thickening paste for fuller thicker looking and feelin hair i havent tryed it but i will ons unday when i wash my hair it was 18 bucks at the salon where i got it from

BioSilk. You can get it in most salons, and some might even give you a sample for free. Any of the Farouk Chi products are good. The silicone will smooth your problems out, and protect your hair from heat damage.

pantene works well, due to the fact that the conditioner actually leaves a slight build-up on your hair shaft...it kinda coats it until you wash it again...also ic by fantasia makes a lot of good treatments, and they have a great serum that you use before your flat iron that makes hair shiny and manageable...but also remember that you have to do regular treatments and condition each time you wash your hair...evp3 treatments are great...
UGH!! This is REALLY starting to freak me out!! I remember the first time I pulled a FREAKISHLY huge handful of hair out of my hair brush... it was about a week after Thanksgiving, so my daughter was almost 3 months old. I thought, "hmm... this is disturbing..."

we've made it to month 8 - almost- and the hair loss hasn't totally stopped, but it's not shedding and getting everywhere constantly anymore. once i started eating more calcium and balancing my diet with less processed foods, lots of water, too... it helped.
i have this in common with other moms too. it could be related to a lack of protein and nutrition mixed with breastfeeding, baby's sucking it all out :) so make sure YOU are taking care of you, too...i know how that can be.

My son is 6 mo old and I will let you know when my towel stops looking like Cousin It washed his face with it. I'm thinking 9 months, since it stopped shedding for approximately that long it will probably take an equal amount of time for that hair to stop falling out.

Are you still taking your pre-natal vitamins? It might help. I didn't have this problem but if I did I would think it was nutritional or hormonal....Make sure you're eating right and talk to your doc about it. Good luck :)

Maybe check with a doctor for reasurance.I have three kids,two of which are twins and I never experienced that,Does it have something to do with breastfeeding?I'd cut sick if my hair started falling out.Maybe your could try the NUTRI-OX system,it is designed for thinning and hair loss.It feels good on the scalp.

I'm experiencing the same thing and my daughter is 5 months old! Luckily I have very thick hair. Everytime I take a shower, I literally pull out another head of hair! I'm wondering when it will stop too.... At least you know you're not the only one!! :)
My son just turned 4 mths and about a month ago mine started to fall out. I hate it cause my hair is everywhere and the baby constantly has a strand wrapped around his little hand and he's chewing on it. Gross gross gross. After my first, it last until he was about 6 mths. I also never had thick hair and feared I was going to be bald at the end. I even though about getting rogaine but they don't recommend using it for postpartum hairloss. Congrats a your baby and don't worry, loads of other women are in the same boat. And about the postpartum body, I have some good muffin tops going now since the birth od the baby.
