There are a lot of things you can do and keep the length and not having to dye it. Depending on what you are willing to cut, is what you have to ask yourself. Before I chopped mine, I had really short layers on the top. You can use products to volumize it. It also give you the oppurtunity to style it many different ways.; all up front, crazy parts, whatever.

If you can't dye it but want some color you can always go to a hair supply store (some salons even have them) and buy the clip-on type colored extensions. You can attach them under the top layers, and no one would know the difference That way you can use them when you aren't at home, or maybe if your mom knew they weren't permanent she wouldn't mind 'em.

I have attached a few pics to get your creative juices flowing. Also photobucket has a great amount of pics on there....thats where these are from that I used to help me. Just type in scene hair, or emo, and there are plenty of pics.

Hope I helped, good luck!!!

I recommend bangs. And you can get scene/emo hair without going too short. But basically just straighten it (Really really straight) and get bangs. And if you want to look emo wear lots of eyeliner. Straight bangs just below the eyebrow and lots of eyeliner is really cool looking. Also, use clips. Like black ones or with skulls, just go to Hot Topic and find some you like. Good luck with the new 'do!

Short layers in the back and long (or short) bangs in the back is also really cool. You don't have to dye it for it to be scene hair. It will look great anyway.
