My hair is really thick and gets really poofy after i wash it. i need a hair thinner or something.an

I use a really good shampoo and conditioner its Matrix but after it dries its SOOO poofy..and then the next day its SOOO thick..i dont want to cut it at all and i dont like to straighten my hair cuz it kills my hair ( even if i use a protecting serum for heat damage) is there some kind of thinner i can use? or some natural way? does leave in condition work? and if so what kind should i get?

okay..I had your same problem..and this really worked for me.

I tried sunsilk conditioner..the one that ses "hate it when your hair poofs?"..the blue one..and it helps keep it in controll without damage.it seriously works..and my hairs dry and thick...and its already thined..and its still thick..and puffy if I dry it..

or go to my other option which worked for me..even though it wasn't made for making your hair controlled..its called "john freida lumious color glaze..for all hair types..you use it..and it will keep your hair controlled, and soft.and shiny..honestly I think it should add controlls your hair to the discription thingy.

keep the length but get layers with thinning scissors or a razor. use the anti-poof leave in creme by sunsilk (use your own shampoo and conditioner though).. it really works! and the price is really reasonable.. you can get it at walmart or shoppers.

You could get it thinned at a salon but I don't recommend it. When your hair is still wet put it in a bun until it dries and when its dry it will be waay less poofy. Also let me recomend John Freida Frizz-Ease : ]

there's a shampoo and conditioner called BioSilk; Silk Therapy and it can come with a leave in treatment oil. Basically when your hair is damp you run just a little of this oil in your hair and it can help to bring the poof down. Other than that i would just try using the different products out there and see what works best with your hair

good luck

I know what you mean. I jokingly call it my "ethnic hair"

I found a solution after years of going out in public with poufy hair and feeling like a freak or something. My hairdresser removes the "bulk" as she calls it with a texturizing brush from paul mitchell. I go to a JC Penney salon for this. It will shorten the length, but not much.

You can get this done when you go for a trim, although you pay the same price as a haircut, it's totally worth it. Tell them you want to remove the bulk with a texturizing brush, not thinning shears as thinning shears leave split ends and take forever to thin hair.

Do not thin your hair!! This puts multiple layers in your hair and does not help poofy hair at all. You want the length left alone to add weight and help hold your hair down. Ihave tried BioSilk and all the other treatments they sell and nothing worked like what I am about to share with you.

Before you shower, heat up some olive oil, smooth it on your dry hair and massasge into your scalp, take about 2 minutes to do this. Shampoo and condition as usual, use luke warm water to shampoo and when you rinse out the conditioner. Just before you step out of the shower hit your hair with cold water to make the cuticles lie flat. Don't fluff dry your hair with a towel, just squish the excess water out with your hands, don't wring or twist your hair, and wrap a towel around it until it no longer drips then let it dry naturally. When your hair is dry again, repeat the olive oil treatment and wind your hair into a knot on top of your head, secure it and sleep with it that way overnight. Don't use tons of olive oil, only a couple of tablespoons before and after the shower. This really helps my unruly, naturally curly and poofy hair settle down. Try this two to three times a week. Don't shampoo your hair every day, just use conditioner; shampoo and condition once or twice a week, 3 times if you must.
